Be Part of the Team
Women on Skis is a non-profit ski club managed through the volunteer efforts of its members. It is thanks to the leaders and helpers of the club that we can all enjoy the super outings that we have. With all the wonderful snow we have had this year our numbers have grown to 125+.
Although we don't require that members pitch in to help, we are a club run entirely by volunteer help and can only provide as many outings as our volunteers are willing to support. People volunteer for a variety of reasons: a need to give back to the community, the camaraderie involved, the enjoyment and sense of accomplishment in taking part. Volunteering is also a great way to get to know others and to contribute ideas. Whatever your interest we are always welcoming new volunteers. There are lots of ways to get involved.
Some volunteer roles involve strong skiing skills or knowledge of the local trails . Others require only a limited time commitment, such as helping at one of our off-season events ( Trilliums and Tea, Coffee and Colours, Fresh Air night), helping with the cider and table settings at our year end event at Nakkertok or coordinating a meet-up or luncheon. Others need good interpersonal skills - such as helping newcomers to find their place in the groups and greeting newcomers and answering their questions at the earlier outings.
